On Digital Death Dealings and In Real (Black) Life

Wrote this on Facebook/Instagram/IG this morning:

Alton Sterling. Sick of hashtags so fuck it. Also other thoughts on black women’s labor in the killing fields, on black femme and blatinx queer death that passes without the same outrage, on the Rise Up in the Baton Rouge community that brought this to our attention, on Louisiana’s Blue Lives Matter laws passed THIS SPRING, on the CD and DVD man we all know on our corners and in our beauty shops, on snuff films and death porn, on black death commodities for mainstream media click bait, on black love. My heart is in Baton Rouge…

I also wrote:

I wrote that before I saw this:

…which is a reminder that these things, these digital death dealings, are complicated and layered, and they never end, they never end, they never seem to end…and black women holding that space and doing that work, my God….

Mourning another death today….
